I confess to being skeptical by nature. I have always struggled with managers who believe that their company and they themselves are better than everyone else. While there are certainly cases where there are incredibly successful companies and managers, I think in many circumstances we need to recognize the role of luck in the development of companies and careers. As leaders we need to cultivate humility such that we see learning and adaptation as the primary path to sustained business success. In this cast I make the argument that many managers were just lucky, in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills and that many businesses similarly got lucky. Ego and pride over luck is my favorite technical term #stupid. Be humble grow, improve, adapt and overcome.
